Cheers to Heart Benefits!

February 19, 2010

It’s Friday, the weekend is finally here! That means going out, partying, and of course drinking! But instead of your typical tequila shot, beer, or whatever mixed concoction you normally knock back – how about going for Champagne this weekend?

We usually associate Champagne with New Years toasts and other special occasions but new research provides convincing evidence to make Champagne part of your regular drinking routine.

According to a study conducted at the University of Reading, drinking two glasses of Champagne daily can have heart healthy benefits. The polyphenols in Champagne (from the red & white grapes in which Champagne is made from) improves blood circulation by increasing the availability of nitric oxide, a molecule that lowers blood pressure and the likelihood of blood clots forming. With improved blood flow, the risk of suffering from cardiovascular disease or stroke is reduced.

But keep in mind that moderation is key! Stick to two glasses for a heart healthy dose of Champagne!

Happy Weekend!

Keep it Healthy,
